I got this tat in honor of a fallen medic buddy killed in action in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. The toughest thing about being a medic is picking up another fallen medic. I have always felt bonded with Nick since this day. He was/is a true hero...He didn't have to go on this mission. But when we were asked for volunteers he jumped up and grabbed his aid bag before anyone else said a word.
The tat was done by an artist in Kaiserslautern, Germany. I can't remember the artists name.
So, I was searching medic tats as I am getting one to symbolize my deployment and my fallen brothers and sisters.. I came across this and cried... Crombie and I were in AIT together,we flew to Germany together too for our first assignment...
At the 64th, he went his way and I went mine. He and one other of my medic buddies from AIT died around the same time.. I can't help but feel guilty at times for going to the unit I did, instead of him... RIP Crombie....
