The idea behind this is the passage of time as it is represented by life. At the top of this tattoo the hourglass is beautiful..fresh..new. My date of birth is at the top. We also have a baby to represent the beginning. As you travel down the glass begins to crack, and the structure itself deteriorates and becomes bone. Behind the hourglass is a skull, distorted by the glass itself and at the bottom of the hourglass the sand is a pile of bones.
