The cherry blossoms represent feminine beauty sensuality & power. In Japanese culture it also represents the brevity of life. I've recently experienced several losses - my father in law, a close family friend, and a baby at 3 months pregnant. The oriental fan represents the importance of family (because it starts at one point @ the bottom and branches out). The kanji means love, strength/power and beauty. Custom art by "Big Gabe" at Scorpion Studios in Houston. Took about 5 hours.
