This is my first tattoo, on the right side of my body, lower rib cage to top of hip. It is a memorial tattoo to remember my father and to mark my survival. The rose represents my family name (Greek for rose), with the stem turning into a green ribbon (for Kidney cancer that my father lost the battle to), further into a purple/violet ribbon (for Hodgkin's Disease that I beat when I was 18). Got this this summer, right before my 30th birthday.
I am looking for ideas for my first tattoo and this is like what I'm wanting. but with a yellow rose and purple ribbon. I'm a colon cancer survivor, and the rose will be for my mother and sister that have both passed.
Great tattoo, an awesome tribute to your dad. Looking through for cancer survivor tattoo ideas myself at the moment - nearing my final treatment for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and this is definitely one of the best I've seen
I love it! I'm a cancer survivor too (Hodgkins) and I just got my first tattoo last Saturday. I love what you've done here...the tatt has meaning and will always have meaning. I think its great that we have stories behind our tattoos
